LONG BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 16, 2004) - The American Basketball Association (ABA) Long Beach Jam Jam visited children at St. Mary Medical Center Wednesday.

"Children do not want to be in the hospital during the holidays but a visit from a professional basketball player can make the hospital stay seem a bit more merry, " said Patricia Rhoades, Director of Children's Services.

Head Coach Nate Archibald and Assistant Ernest Browne, along players, Alvin Jefferson and Joe Buck, and mascot "Jammie" spent time with children, playing games and reading.

"It was nice to see the smiles on the children's faces when they saw everyone there for them," said Jam Community Relations Director, A.V. Boisdin. "We would love to see these children at a Jam home game once they are feeling well enough to leave the hospital."

The coaches and players presented each child with a Jam t-shirt, Lil' Romeo bobble head, and an autographed ABA basketball.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
