London takes game one over Otters

LONDON, Ont. - Philip McRae scored his second goal of the game six minutes into the third period to lift the London Knights to a 5-2 win over the Erie Otters in Game 1 of their best-of-seven OHL Quarterfinal series played tonight in front of 9,090 at the John Labatt Centre. London leads the series 1-0.

Nazem Kadri, Phil Varone and John Tavares also scored for the Knights. Shawn Syzdlowski and Greg McKegg scored for the Otters.

Erie led 2-1 after one. The two teams were tied at two after two.

The Otters out shot the Knights 47-37 in the game as Jaroslav Janus took the loss.

The three stars of the game were all from the Knights. McRae was the first, Daniel Erlich (one assist) the second and Tavares the third.

The Otters and Knights meet in Game 2 of their best-of-seven series tomorrow (Saturday) night at 7 p.m. at the John Labatt Centre in London.
