Locos Announce Player Tryouts

LAS VEGAS, NV - Friday, March 11 - The path to earning a United Football League roster spot starts here. The defending champion Las Vegas Locos are laying down the challenge to athletes who believe they have what it takes to make an impact in professional football.
Led by head coach JIM FASSEL, the Locos will hold open player tryouts at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 9; Cerritos College in Los Angeles, CA, on Saturday, May 7; and at Chaparral High School in Phoenix, AZ, on Saturday, May 21. Athletes will be timed in the 40-yard dash and will participate in a series of individual and team drills.
Players must pre-register online at www.ufl-football.com/tryouts/locos. The cost to tryout is $60. The tryouts are for all positions, including kickers and punters and will be held in three stages:
K, P, LS, KR, PR Registration: 8.30am - 9am Tryout: 9am - 11am
OL / DL / TE Registration: 10am - 11am Tryout: 11am - 1pm
QB, RB, WR, LB, DB Registration: 11am - 12pm Tryout: 12pm - 2.15pm
"A lot of talented players will show up and the odds are high that we will take a handful to training camp with a shot at making our final roster," said Coach Fassel. "A good number of the guys who try out will have NFL experience and will have been on practice squads, but there are also players who have slipped through the cracks who now have an opportunity to prove themselves.
"We have learned from the past two years that this is where we find that player who makes an impact in a game later in the year and then you remember he is on the team because he showed up at a tryout in Las Vegas, Los Angeles or Phoenix. Agents have told me that they feel their players get a really great tryout. They are given a genuine look and if they are good enough, they will have a shot at making the team."
The 2010 Locos tryouts unearthed future 2010 UFL Championship Game MVP CHASE CLEMENT, while Fassel and his staff also identified Defensive Player of Week 5 safety LEWIS BAKER and touchdown scorer in the Championship Game running back HAKIM HILL from previous tryouts.
