Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release
(Brainerd Lakes Area) - The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods League have announced that Kyle Crocker of the University of Minnesota will be returning home to the Brainerd Lakes Area to play for the Lunkers this summer, according to Lunkers General Manger Dustin Anaas.
Crocker, a 6-foot-1 freshman from Baxter, Minn., redshirted with the Gophers this season.
He graduated from Brainerd High School in 2010. While at Brainerd, he played football, basketball and baseball. In football, he was named to the All-Area Team three times and was First-Team All State as a senior. In basketball, he was named to the All-Area Team four times. And in baseball, he was named to the All-Conference Team three times and was named First-Team All-State as a senior.
During his senior baseball season, he hit .419 with 22 runs scored, and he only struck out four times in 62 at-bats. He was a big part of the Brainerd team that made it to the state tournament. He was named 2010 Brainerd Athlete of the Year and was named MVP of the football, basketball and baseball teams.
"We are very excited to have one of the great athletes in Brainerd High's history coming home to put on a Lunkers uniform this summer," said Lunkers General Manager Dustin Anaas. "Kyle accomplished so much in the Brainerd Lakes Area in high school, and this is a chance for him to shine in front of the hometown fans."
The Lunkers home opener is Wednesday, June 1st at Stewart C. Mills Field when the Lunkers take on the Alexandria Beetles at 7:05 with Fireworks presented by Mills Fleet Farm to follow the game. For more information call the Lunkers office at 218-824-3474 or visit lunkersbaseball.com.
