Elmira Jackals News Release
Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have agreed to terms with right wing Frank Littlejohn for the 2007-2008 ECHL season.
Dynamic forward Frank Littlejohn was acquired by the Elmira Jackals on July 27th, 2006 from the Quad City Mallards and he has not looked back since. Littlejohn, who was a menace to the Jackals for five seasons in Adirondack, became an instant fan favorite for his passionate, hard-hitting style of play. During his first season in a Jackals sweater, he led the team in scoring with 59 points (42 goals, 17 assists) and 199 penalty minutes, while setting a career high and Jackals team record for goals in a single season (42). The 5'11", 195 lbs right wing's record-setting 42nd goal of 2006-07 was also his 400th career professional point, which completed a hat trick performance against the Port Huron Flags on April 6th, 2007 at First Arena.
"Frank Littlejohn was the bright spot of the season," said Jackals team president Tamer Afr. "He was our team's most valuable player, our fan favorite and he won the hearts of all the fans with his on-ice performance. We feel the best way to begin building a successful team for next season is by securing our MVP for another year."
He also led the 2006-07 Jackals in power play goals (13), short-handed goals (7) and game-winning goals (5). Littlejohn has seen action in the ECHL before; in his second season as a pro, 1999-2000, he divided his time between Johnstown, Wheeling, Charlotte and Huntington.
Littlejohn sits in some elite company within the United Hockey League record books. On the All-Time UHL Charts he currently ranks 6th in PIMs (1,688), 13h in Goals (222) and 13th in Games Played (478). He scored his 200th career UHL goal on 1/26/07 at Wings Stadium against the Kalamazoo Wings. Littlejohn played in his 500th career professional game on 11/22/06 at First Arena against the Chicago Hounds.
The Oshawa, Ontario native has been called up to the AHL by five different teams during his pro career: Rochester, Springfield, Albany, Cleveland and San Antonio. In 15 career AHL games played he has 2 points (0 goals, 2 assists) and 23 penalty minutes. He received his first AHL call-up of 2006-2007 on 2/21/07, playing one game for the San Antonio Rampage in Rochester, New York in a 2-0 win over the Amerks.
