(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that Canadian pop sensation Dragonette will perform during halftime of the club's home opener versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday, June 29th at BC Place presented by TELUS.

Originally from Toronto, Dragonette consists of singer-songwriter Martina Sorbara, bassist and producer Dan Kurtz and drummer Joel Stouffer.

"We are thrilled to have Dragonette performing for our fans as part of our kick off to the 2012 season," said Lions president and CEO Dennis Skulsky. "It's another great reason why opening night is going to be so special for our fans and will set the stage for great football and family entertainment throughout our entire season at BC Place."

Just last week, Dragonette were featured presenters at the MuchMusic Video Awards and their new single "Let It Go" has been on Canada's billboard charts for more than 10 weeks. In 2010, their single "Hello" with Martin Solveig reached number one on the dance airplay chart.

The performance by Dragonette is just part of a night loaded with memories in the making, as the Lions unveil their 2011 Grey Cup championship banner in a pregame ceremony and distribute 10,000 championship towels courtesy of TELUS.

Friday's game will also see CFL superstar Geroy Simon continue his run at the all-time receiving mark of 15,153 yards currently held by Milt Stegall. Simon needs just 67 yards to set a new standard among receivers.

The Lions begin defence of their 2011 Grey Cup championship with this title rematch versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers presented by TELUS on Friday, June 29th. Single game tickets for the club's 2012 regular season are on sale now! Call 1.855.GO.LIONS or visit bclions.com for more information.
