Lions Sign Former Ole Miss Rebel
The Columbus Lions have signed defensive lineman Herbert Moore, out of Ole Miss. Moore played in 19 games over his career in Oxford.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Moore was rated as the No. 17 prospect in Tennessee during high school by ESPN. Moore was part of the 2013 signing class at Ole Miss, and was redshirted that year.
His freshman year, the 6-foot-2-inch lineman served as a reserve nose tackle, according to Ole Miss athletics. He made his college debut versus Presbyterian and played in six games during the 2014 season. During fall camp of his sophomore year, Moore tore his ACL and missed the season with the injury.
Moore returned in 2016 with the Rebels, once again serving as a reserve nose tackle and making an appearance in six games. In his senior season, Moore appeared in seven games as a defensive tackle and recorded seven tackles and one sack that season.
"Herbert is relentless and can get after the QB," Coach Jason Gibson said. "Our defense is starting to take shape and I can't wait to see him on the field".
