Columbus Lions News Release
COLUMBUS, GA - Columbus Lions Head Coach Jason Gibson today announced the signing of wide receiver Terrence Ebagua, formerly of the Arena Football League's Tampa Bay Storm, and 2015 Most Valuable Player of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) in his first go-around with the Lions.
With the recent roster losses of Tristan Purifoy (injured foot) and Durron Neal (left the team), Gibson has added wide receiver depth and veteran leadership with Ebagua and fellow ex-AFL star Darrell Thompson.
Ebagua, at 6'7", 220 lbs. is one of the tallest and most sure-handed receivers in arena football. In his MVP season, Ebagua led the PIFL with 26 touchdowns and 1,070 receiving yards, as the Lions won the first of two consecutive league championships. Columbus acquired him from the Albany (GA) Panthers after the 2014 season, and following his stint in Tampa Bay, he returned to Albany with the Georgia Firebirds in 2017.
Gibson announced the signing saying "Terrence is a sure-handed, experienced and almost fearless addition to our receiver corps. He knows our system and should be a big part of our game plan in Greensboro for the National Arena League's championship game."
The Lions play the Carolina Cobras on Monday, August 27, at 7 p.m. in the Greensboro Coliseum, after knocking off the Massachusetts Pirates, 50-36, last weekend in Worcester, MA. The Cobras advanced to the NAL title game by clobbering the Jacksonville Sharks, 73-48, Tuesday night at home.
