Columbus Lions News Release
COLUMBUS, GA (June 3, 2013) - The Columbus Lions of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) are proud to announce that wide receiver Cody Pearcy has signed with the AFL's Cleveland Gladiators.
Apparently it only took one game for scouts to be wowed as WR Cody Pearcy (5'10 165, Huntingdon), a graduate of Glenwood Academy in Phenix City, AL, signed with the AFL's Cleveland Gladiators. Signed by the Lions just a week ago, Pearcy made his debut this past Sunday in the club's 59-38 victory over the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks hauling in two receptions for 50 yards and one touchdown.
Cody is Huntingdon's career leader in receptions (147), receiving yards (2,632) and receiving touchdowns (25) and has the distinction of being the first player from Huntingdon to sign with an NFL team (Falcons).
"Cody is another example of the rich talent located in the bi-city area," says Columbus Lions Head Coach Jason Gibson. "We we're excited to get him and even though he was only here for one game we take pride in continuing to guide players to the next level."
The Columbus Lions host their in-state rivals the Albany Panthers this Saturday June 8th at 7:30 PM on "Lions Team Poster Night." The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive an official 2013 Lions Team Poster.
For more information about this and much more lined up for Saturday, contact the Lions front office at 706-322-3336 or log on to www.columbuslions.net.
