COLUMBUS, GA, May 29 -- The Columbus Lions invite one and all to Saturday's big National Arena League game against the defending league champion Carolina Cobras on "Legends Weekend", a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Columbus Civic Center, as the team debuts its new "Ring of Honor" and inducts its first member.

All former Lions players (2007-18) are invited to be part of weekend festivities by calling Lions ticket sales executive Terry Gore at 706-322-3336 x-801 for their complimentary tickets. Any player needing hotel accommodations should contact Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Jason Gibson at jason@columbuslions.net.

"We're thrilled to introduce, here in our 'Never Unlucky' 13th season, a "Ring of Honor" that will bestow eternal recognition on the all-time greats of Columbus Lions indoor and arena football," said Gibson. "Our first inductee, who will remain nameless until gates open Saturday, is, we believe, the most fitting of initial members any team could produce. He's an outstanding organizational representative who embodies everything we consider important in being a longtime Lion, a true team icon. We look forward with great anticipation to his induction."

The Lions are completing plans for a Friday evening social for players past and present and its big NAL game Saturday against the Cobras, who were upset at home by the expansion Orlando Predators, 72-69 , Saturday night. In a league noted for unusual parity, the word "upset" may actually be a misnomer.

Lions fans will receive 2019 Team Posters and a limited number of player cards featuring "Ring of Honor" inductee #1. Gates open at 6 p.m. and at 5:30 for VIP season ticketholders at all usual Civic Center entrances.
