Columbus Lions News Release
Columbus Lions fullback Quayvon Hicks has been named the 2018 NAL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Hicks, honored with a 1st team all-NAL selection earlier in the week, terrorized defenses throughout the year with his unique blend of speed, power, and blocking ability. The former Georgia Bulldog lead the NAL in rushing yards per game at 25.4 yards and 12 touchdowns, while rushing the ball 81 times and being apart an offensive line unit that allowed 19 sacks the entire season - good for 2nd in the NAL. The all-NAL fullback also proved a tough matchup on linebackers in the passing game, as he added to his astounding season by totaling 15 catches for 119 yards and 3 additional touchdowns.
Hicks completed all of this while only playing in 12 games of the regular season due to an NFL exemption to participate in training camp with the Detroit Lions midway through the year. After returning, Hicks picked up where he left off and helped lead the Columbus Lions to their 2nd straight NAL championship appearance and 4th straight appearance overall.
