Lions Fall in Overtime, 42-41
July 18, 2018 - National Arena League (NAL)
Columbus Lions News Release
The Lions fell in a close battle last Saturday night against the Maine Mammoths 42-41. Maine was able to outlast the Lions as they win a big game in overtime. This ends the Lions three game win streak.
Maine has been a tough opponent all season long and has played the Lions tough all year. This time they were able to defeat Columbus, due to a stingy defense and timely plays. The game went back and forth all night long, as the Lions were unsuccessful on a two-point conversion costing them the game.
Quarterback Mason Espinosa faced a tough defense in the Mammoths, as they held Espinosa to under 200 yards and four touchdowns. The Lions themselves were held to under 200 yards of total offense, as they just couldn't seem to get things clicking.
The Lions will be back to work this week as they take on their bitter rival Jacksonville on Saturday night.
