Lions' Espinosa Tabbed as NAL Offensive Player of the Year

Columbus Lions quarterback Mason Espinosa has been awarded the 2018 NAL Offensive Player of the Year. Espinosa posted a career season with an astounding 11-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, leading the NAL. Espinosa was at or near the top of every major statistical category for the 2018 season. The signal caller led the NAL in completion percentage (64.3%), passing efficiency (107.7), QBR (109.9), and interceptions thrown (7). He also came in second in a slew of categories including total offense (228.8 ypg), total offense per play (6.8 ypg), total touchdowns (78), rushing touchdowns (12), and passing yards (223.7 ypg). All this was good enough to earn the Lions quarterback a 1st team all-NAL selection, as well as the Player of the Year nod.
Throughout the regular season Espinosa led the Lions consistently to the top of the league standings, clinching a playoff birth for the organization for 6th consecutive year, and had the Lions as high as the number #1 ranked team in the league as late as week 11 when the Lions compiled an 8-3 record. Unfortunately, Espinosa's season ended pre-maturely as he was hampered by a knee injury that kept him out of the last two weeks of the season and the playoffs.
Espinosa is no stranger to the NAL post-season accolades, as he was selected as the 2nd team all-NAL quarterback last year in the 2017 season. His final stat line for the 2018 season ended with 279 completions for 434 attempts for 3152 yards and 78 touchdowns versus only 7 INTs.
