Columbus Lions News Release

Jocelyn Borgella Jr., a defensive back from Bethune-Cookman and son of former Detroit Lions defensive back Jocelyn Borgella, is coming to Columbus. Borgella Jr. is the latest in a string of defensive acquisitions by the Lions this offseason.

With only 67 days left before the 2021 NAL season kicks off for the Columbus Lions, Head Coach Jason Gibson and the rest of his staff are still making moves. Jocelyn Borgella Jr. is the newest member of the Columbus Lions after signing with the team this week.

The second generation cornerback got his start at La Salle High School where he played on both sides of the ball as a running back and defensive back. Borgella took his talents to Bethune-Cookman following graduation from La Salle and played for the Wildcats for three productive years with significant playing time.

In his three years at Bethune-Cookman the Miami native recorded 41 total tackles along with one forced and fumble recovery as well as two pass breakups and an interception. All of this came in 32 total games played during those three seasons. Borgella Jr. now comes to Columbus with a chance to compete for playing time and also filling the key need of depth as the 2021 season approaches.
