
Lindsay Davenport to Play in St. Louis for Additional Match

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Lindsay Davenport will be traveling back to St. Louis to join her teammates Thursday for the last home match of the regular season. By playing in her 11th World TeamTennis match of the season on Thursday, Davenport will be eligible for consideration to be named the 2010 World TeamTennis Female Most Valuable Player. Davenport is currently in first place in the WTT standings for Women's Singles with a winning percentage of 66.7%. She is also in first place in the Mixed Doubles standings with a record of 36-22 for the season.
"I am very excited to be coming back to St. Louis for the final regular season match. I can't wait to see my teammates," said Lindsay Davenport.
"We are thrilled to have Lindsay back in St. Louis on Thursday," said Aces President Dani Apted. "What an amazing display of character. She is showing the epitome of World TeamTennis team spirit by joining the Aces for our last home match of the regular season. We are hoping that by having Lindsay back on our team, we will have a better chance of clinching a spot in the WTT Conference Championships."
Martina Hingis was not feeling well and was unable to play with the New York Buzz in Albany last night. She is scheduled to play her last World TeamTennis match of the season tonight in Philadelphia. Hingis will be unable to finish the WTT season with the New York Buzz.
With four teams within two matches of first place in the Western Conference, the Aces are still in the hunt for a WTT playoff berth. Davenport hopes to help the Aces' chances at making the playoffs. The Western Conference Championship will be held Friday, July 23 at the home venue of the Conference's first place team.
Mary Buschmann, executive director of the Missouri Valley USTA, will present Davenport and the Aces team with the Show-Me Cup before the start of their final home match on Thursday, July 22nd at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.
The Show-Me Cup standings are based on results of matches played between Missouri World TeamTennis franchises. Standings are based on games won versus opponents, not team wins. This year, the Aces have won 84 games compared to Springfield's 79 and Kansas City's 74.
"I am thrilled that the Aces won the Show-Me Cup and I am looking forward to the presentation on Thursday evening," said Aces owner Dan Apted.
The Aces will conclude their regular season at home on Thursday, July 22ndagainst the New York Buzz. All ticketholders for the July 22 match will receive a free voucher for 1 hour of court time at Dwight Davis Tennis Center for the 2010 season. Ticketholders 21 and over will receive a complimentary Michelob Ultra to toast the 2010 Show Me Cup Champions the St. Louis Aces before the match starts! If the Aces finish the regular season atop the rankings in the Western Conference they will host the Conference Championship against the second place team on Friday, July 23. The World TeamTennis Finals are on Sunday, July 25 in Kansas City.
