June 10, 2005 (Lincoln, NE) - Today, the Lincoln Generals of the All American Professional Basketball League announced Mark Berokoff as Vice President of Basketball Operations
Berokoff comes to the Generals after a brief stint as the Assistant Coach to Hernando Planells, Vice President of Basketball Operations of the Wyoming Golden Eagles.
"I am very excited about being the head coach of the Lincoln Generals," said Berokoff. "Lincoln is known as a top-flight sports town and I am looking forward to being able to build the Generals into a team this town can get excited about."
VP of basketball operations of the Wyoming Golden Eagles, Hernando Planells said, "I am excited for Mark, Lincoln is getting a tremendous coach and person." Planells continued, "Mark is the total package, he has two of the most important qualities in a head coach; one he is dedicated and two he can attract great players to Lincoln."
"Mark is a great fit for the city of Lincoln," said Worth Christie, President and CEO of the AAPBL. "Mark brings the type of work ethic and drive that we are looking for in this position."
With a career record of 200-77 in 8 years of coaching, Berokoff has a reputation for building successful teams from the ground up. His career has been highlighted by 4 straight league championships, a California CIF Runner-Up in 2000, and a California Southern Section Championship in 2001. Berokoff was also named the California CIF Coach of the Year in 2001.
Lincoln will open their inaugural season in November and will play 31 games at the Pershing Center
