Lincoln Thunder News Release
The Butte Bandits used a quick start and stymied a late comeback to beat the Lincoln Generals 111-103. Lincoln (5-5) scored a combined 65 points in the second half, but wasn't quite enough to rally for the win. "It was just a great effort by our guys to make the comeback," Mark Berokoff, Lincoln head coach, said. "They've been playing well of late, so it didn't surprise me."
The Generals pulled to within five with 26 seconds left after Daniel Zinchuk's converted free throw, but Butte pulled away, making three of four free throws after Zinchuk's to take the win. Lincoln had their chances with a couple of three-pointer attempts, but couldn't get them to drop. "We had our chances. They were good looks but they didn't go through for us," Berokoff said.
David Finklea led Lincoln with 19 points and nine rebounds. As a team, Lincoln was out-rebounded 45-38. They shot 48.3 percent from the field in the contest. Lincoln scored only 38 points in the first half, and that's when adjustments were made. "We pushed our tempo at lot more, and our defense on the wings got after it," Berokoff said. "Our guys just stepped up and played well."
