
Lincoln defeats Sports in home opener

The Lincoln Saltdogs spoiled the home opener of the Shreveport Sports Tuesday night at Fair Grounds Field winning 8-6 to stretch the Lincoln winning streak to five straight.
The Sports had taken a 4-1 into the seventh inning when Brett Cooley of the Saltdogs hit a grand slam home run with two outs to give Lincoln a 7-4 lead. The Saltdogs added another run in the ninth inning on a solo home run by Bryan Warner.
Shreveport was led by third baseman Neb Brown who had three hits, including a double and drove in two runs.
The loss drops the Sports to 1-3 on the season while Lincoln now goes 5-0 for the year.
Shreveport and Lincoln will play the second game of the three-game series Wednesday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05 pm.
