
Lights FC Defeat Tacoma 3-1

Las Vegas (NV) - Lights FC kicked off a three match homestand with a 3-1 victory over Tacoma Defiance at Cashman Field.
Junior Burgos returned to the starting lineup for Las Vegas and delivered. The El Salvador National Team member served a cross into the box and the ball curled into the back of the net without it being deflected by the Tacoma defense. The Lights' would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 30^th minute with Rashawn Dally knocking a shot in coming off a perfect pass from Yamikani Chester.
After both teams battled strong generating opportunities for the first 20 minutes of the second half, Las Vegas put up another goal in the scoreboard in the 67^th minute. Jose Carrera stole the ball at midfield to start off a counterattack that concluded with Blake Frischknecht assisting Junior Sandoval who scored his first goal of the 2020 season.
The Defiance avoided the shutout with a goal from Las Vegas native Azriel Gonzalez in the 84^th minute.
Las Vegas has now defeated Tacoma in each of the three matches the teams have faced off against each other in Downtown Las Vegas. In 2018 the Lights' won 4-1, in 2019 by a score of 5-0 and tonight's final was 3-0 in favor of Las Vegas.
This was the second of four matches for Lights FC in an 11-day span, with their following game scheduled on Saturday, August 22 against Phoenix Rising FC who boast the best tally in the USL Championship's Western Conference with 19 points. On Wednesday afternoon Phoenix defeated Galaxy 2 on the road by a final score of 2-0.
