Lights FC Closes Homestand with 1-1 Draw Against FC Tulsa
May 13, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Lights FC closed a three game homestand by receiving FC Tulsa at Cashman Field.
Las Vegas applied a high pressure in the first half, limiting the visitors offense to just three shots before halftime. Despite the Lights' firing the ball 8 times, none of the shots from either side were on target.
The first shot on target in this match wasn't registered until the 62nd minute and it ended in the back of the net to open the score in favor of FC Tulsa courtesy of Eric Bird.
A penalty kick was called in favor of the home team and the Lights' took advantage of it with Pato Botello Faz scoring at Cashman Field for the first time in the 68th minute.
Lights FC had a couple of opportunities that were close to giving the team its first win: a curling cross from Manu Ledesma found Botello Faz in the box, but his header was blocked by Tulsa's goalkeeper Michael Nelson.
On the consequent corner kick taken by Justin Ingram, the ball bounced off of a Tulsa defender and hit the crossbar.
With the 1-1 tie, Lights FC registered their sixth draw of the season, which is the most in USL Championship 10 weeks into the 2023 campaign.
