London Lightning News Release

As the final month of the NBL Canada schedule arrives, so do some important match-ups; such as the fifth place Summerside Storm hosting the first place Lon- don Lightning. For the 10-19 Storm, they needed a win before their home crowd. Fortunately, London came out with a new plan in the fourth quarter, taking their first lead of the game and winning at the final buzzer 116-110.

London wants to wrap up home court advantage throughout the play-offs, and the Storm need wins fast to climb into fourth place. The numbers tell the story of tonight's game. Eddie Smith had a stellar performance scoring 40 points with 11 rebounds to secure the win. Also, DeAnthony Bowden contributed 22 points closely followed by NBL Player of the Week Shamari Spears with 19. Of note, Lightning star Gabe Freeman sat out the game while recovering from injury.

"It was a well played game," explained DeAnthony Bowden. "We fought hard and came back despite everything that was going on. We took care of business and did what we had to do. Basketball isn't about how you start the game but how you finish, and we had a great defensive performance in the fourth that gained us the win."

London is back at home at the John Labatt Centre on February 16th for a 7 pm match-up against Saint John.
