
Lightning Win Home Opener in Overtime

(LONDON, Ontario) - Tonight, in front of 4,805 fans at Budweiser Gardens, the London Lightning defeated defending NBL Champions, the Windsor Express, in overtime. The final score was 99-97.
"It was opening night and we had to win for our fans," said top scorer, Marvin Phillips. "We stayed together, we worked hard and we pulled it off."
Phillips added 35 points and 13 boards, while Maurice Bolden added 19 points and 16 rebounds.
"Tonight, the guys showed perseverance and determination. We had some lapses, both offensive and defensive, but overall we did what we needed to do," said head coach Carlos Knox. "We will continue to prepare ourselves in the coming weeks."
The Lightning play their next game on the road in Mississauga next Saturday night. They will return to Budweiser Gardens to tip-off against the Brampton A's next Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available through the Budweiser Gardens Box Office.
