Louisville Lightning News Release

Louisville is quickly becoming known as quite the soccer town. The Louisville Lightning enter their second season of play in just two weeks, while the University of Louisville men's team is undefeated and ranked at or near the top in nearly every national poll. Now the two soccer powers are combining forces this weekend.

The Louisville Lightning will make an appearance at halftime of the University of Louisville men's soccer home finale against Villanova Saturday. Kickoff is at 7 PM from Cardinal Park. Additionally, fans who bring a canned good item to the game will receive free admission.

The Cards, led by coach Ken Lolla, are 13-0-2 on the season and coming off a 2-1 victory over Syracuse Wednesday night. The team has clinched the Big East Red Division, and are currently ranked second in the nation in the NSCAA/Hendrickscars.com national poll. The team has been ranked as the number one team in the nation by several polls recently, and their 13 wins ties the school record at Louisville for most wins in a season.

Several Lightning players, including Simon Bird, Tony Jouaux, Ryan McDonald, and Jerry Chavez played their college soccer at the University of Louisville. It's a great opportunity for Lightning fans to come support their team and cheer on the Cards as well!

Kickoff from Cardinal Park on the University of Louisville campus is set for 7 PM Saturday night. Please remember to bring at least one canned good item to receive free admission to the game. Go Lightning, and Go Cards!
