Spokane Indians News Release

Spokane, WA -All the Spokane Indians needed to get back in the win column was a strong start from Eric Brooks (1-1) and a little help from Mother Nature. In a game delayed nearly an hour by lightning strikes, the Indians prevailed over the Dust Devils 1-0 in front of 3,391 fans at Avista Stadium for Brown Bag Giveaway presented by Value Village, KISS 98.1, 590 KQNT.

Brooks, an eleventh round pick out of McLennan Community College, was nearly perfect against the Dust Devils for five innings, allowing just a single hit and striking out four while walking none. The outing lowered Brooks' ERA to a miniscule 1.77 and further endeared him to the Indians' faithful, as he's only allowed a single earned run in his five starts at Avista Stadium.

Spokane's offense picked up eight hits in the win, including three from third baseman Ryan Rua, and scored their lone run of the night on a throwing error from Tri-City shortstop Rosell Herrera in the third inning.

The Indians bullpen was lights out once again, with Jose Monegro tossing two scoreless frames and Josh McElwee picking up the save while striking out four over the eighth and ninth innings.
