London Lightning News Release

(LONDON, ON) The London Lightning won their second consecutive game, defeating the first place Moncton Magic 109-107. The game required extra time but the Lightning held strong and finished with the victory.

A back and forth game all the way through, the Lightning and Magic swapped leads throughout the game. At the end of regulation, the score read 96-96. The Lightning came close to winning in regulation, but came up just shy getting the basket.

Leading the team offensively was Mo Bolden with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Lightning had a total of six players who recorded 10 plus points. Marcus Capers and AJ Gaines each had 15, while Kirk Williams Jr., Alex Johnson, and Marvin Phillips each had 13, 12, and 11 respectively.

Head Coach Elliott Etherington was extremely happy about his teams defensive game tonight. "We only missed our defensive rotations only three times throughout the game." A big positive for the Lightning as this was only the third time they held their opponents to under 100 points in regulation.

The next Lightning game will come on Friday, January 4, 2019 when the Bolts will travel to Sudbury to take on the Five. The Lightning's next home game will be on Sunday, January 6, 2019 when this time Sudbury comes to London. For tickets, visit the Budweiser Gardens Box Office or go to www.lightningbasketball.ca.
