New York Liberty News Release

With the win, New York evens the season series at 1-1 and improves its home record to 6-2 this season.

The Liberty now owns a 14-7 all-time record, including six straight victories, when playing on ESPN/ABC at The Garden.

The triple overtime was a first in Liberty and Fever regular season franchise history. They have previously endured one overtime in the all-time series history - the game ended with a 77-71 New York victory on September 16, 2004 at Radio City Music Hall.

The Liberty reached the 100-point mark for the second time in franchise history and the second time this week after dropping 105 points on Phoenix on Sunday at The Garden.

The game was sent into the first overtime after Cathrine Kraayeveld hit a three-pointer with 6.3 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 72-72. Tamika Catchings nailed her own trey with 4.4 seconds left in the first overtime to give the Fever an 88-87 lead. She committed a foul on Janel McCarville with one second remaining in the next play. McCarville hit one of two free throws and sent the game into the second overtime. Up 92-90 with 1:07 left in the second overtime, Tammy Sutton-Brown's putback with 10 seconds remaining tied the game again at 92-92. In the third overtime, New York went on an 8-0 run to close out the game.

Center Janel McCarville recorded a game-high 31 points, scoring nine points across the three overtime periods. She has averaged 17.8 ppg in New York's last six games.

The next time these two clubs will face off will be at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday, July 19 at 7:30pm for the Liberty Outdoor Classic - the first regular season outdoor game in professional basketball history.
