Liberty Host Open Gym & Free Basketball Clinic for Local Girls Basketball Teams in Jersey City

NEW YORK, NY - July 26, 2011 - The New York Liberty, working with local youth partners the Jersey City Board of Education, Jersey City Recreation, and Team Walker, will host a special "Liberty Day in Jersey City" presented by Chase at the Franklin L. Williams School on Wednesday, July 27 beginning at 2:15 p.m. The Liberty has invited girls basketball teams, coaches and athletic directors from schools from Hudson County to participate in this free event.

"Liberty Day in Jersey City" presented by Chase will offer a variety of free events, including an all girl's youth basketball Open Gym, Youth Basketball Clinic for local girls basketball teams and a Meet & Greet with Liberty Players and Coaches . All attendees will be provided free Liberty giveaways and a pair of complimentary tickets to an upcoming Liberty game at Prudential Center.

2:15pm - 4:00pm - Open Gym

* Free court time after school for local High School girls basketball players to participate in an organized open gym/pickup basketball setting

4:00pm - 4:45pm - Youth Basketball Clinic

* Free 1-hour clinic for girls basketball players ages 8-18 to work on the fundamentals of the game

* The clinic will consist of drill-stations emphasizing the basics of offense, defense, passing, dribbling, rebounding, shooting and conditioning with Liberty Players

4:45pm - 5:00pm - Meet & Greet

* Q&A session with Coaches, Players and Staff

* Includes an open forum to talk about issues in women sports
