Lexington Sporting Club suffered a 5-3 defeat at Toyota Stadium against Chattanooga Red Wolves on Saturday, officially eliminating the club from playoff contention.

The loss brings the club's record to 7-13-9 (30 points), remaining in 9th in the league standings. The result also saw Chattanooga improve to 7-16-6 (27 points), standing at 11th in the league.

Lexington SC entered the match on the back of a 2-2 draw against Charlotte Independence at Toyota Stadium, which marked the second consecutive draw for the club.

The visitors applied the pressure early and eventually struck first in the 13th minute. Lexington SC nearly found an equalizer from Khalid Balogun, but an impressive defensive block eventually led to yet another Red Wolves goal in the 18th.

The home side was able to break the shutout in the 39th minute when a foul in the box sent Nico Brown to the spot. Brown sent the ball into the net for his eighth goal of the season.

Unfortunately for the boys in green, Chattanooga quickly found a third in the 40th minute to go into the break up 3-1.

The second half wouldn't be much kinder to the home side when the visitors scored two goals in two minutes in the 56th and 58th respectively to take a 5-1 lead.

Not willing to give in, Ates Diouf, who subbed in at halftime, managed to pick the ball away from the Chattanooga defense and score a solo goal in the 77th minute.

The Truth would do it again in stoppage time off an assist by Phila Dlamini for his second brace of the season.

While Diouf gave the home side some late theatrics, the damage had already been done as the full-time whistle brought the 5-3 final.

Lexington SC controlled the possession in the match, holding the ball 56% of the time while Chattanooga in expected goals, seeing a 1.93 to 1.44 advantage.

Next up for Lexington SC the boys in green will hit the road to face off against Forward Madison on September 30 before returning to Kentucky for the club's home finale on October 7 against North Carolina FC.
