Lewiston Defeats PEI, 5-3.

Lewiston, ME - The MAINEiacs playoff hopes got a little brighter tonight. The boys in blue defeated the visiting PEI Rocket 5-3 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Friday night. The win inches them closer to securing that all important, and final, spot in the 2009 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The Rocket struck first with a goal just under 6 minutes into the first period. The Dominic Savoie show started ten minutes later with a goal to even the tally. PEI scored again in the second to give them the 2-1 lead.

In the third, Dominic Savoie continued his dominance scoring two goals to complete the hat trick. Max Gratchev and Alex Beaton also scored to put the MAINEiacs in control. PEI's Simon Olsson scored also in the third, but it wasn't enough to stop Lewiston.

Adrien Lemay was in net for Lewiston to face PEI's 42 shots. He earned his 6th win on the year. PEI's Bobby Nadeau earned his 31st loss of the year after seeing 35 Lewiston shots. The three stars of the game were 1) Dominic Savoie (LEW), 2) Alex Beaton (LEW), 3) Adrien Lemay (LEW).

The MAINEiacs will lace up again on Sunday to face the Shawinigan Cataractes at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
