Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The Rochester Knighthawks will remain on the road this weekend, as they travel to play Buffalo and New England on back-to-back nights. The Knighthawks will kick off the two-game stretch in Buffalo on Saturday, February 14th before heading to New England to play the Black Wolves on Sunday, February 15th.

"We need to be on the right side of every series against these division teams," said Knighthawks Head Coach Mike Hasen. "We have to come with a strong effort and work our tails off."

On Saturday, the Knighthawks (2-3) will battle the Buffalo Bandits at 7:30 p.m. at the First Niagara Center. The contest is the second of three meetings between the two teams this season and the 66th time they have met in the 21-year history of the rivalry. The Knighthawks have the edge with a 38-27 record. In the first meeting this season, Rochester scored seven unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to earn a 17-11 win over the Bandits on January 31st.

Rochester will close out the weekend with a 6:00 p.m. showdown against the New England Black Wolves on Sunday, February 15th. The game is the second of three meetings between the two East Division foes. The game Sunday ends a three-game road trip for the Knighthawks, which began last Friday in Minnesota.

Cody Jamieson leads the team with 27 points in five games, which is 11th best in the NLL. His 17 assists are also 11th in the league. Last game, he passed Mike Accursi (224) for third on the team's all-time assist list. Jamieson (362) needs just three points to pass Shawn Evans and Accursi to move into third all-time in points. Dan Dawson, who is second on the team with 23 points, is tied for ninth in the NLL with 18 assists. He collected 11 of those in the win over Buffalo two weeks ago.

Joe Walters also had a memorable night the last time Rochester played the Bandits. The Rochester native collected a career-high in goals (5) and points (7). Jordan Hall also netted a season-high three goals and two assists. Joel Matthews also tallied a career-high two assists and three points against his former team.

Rochester bolstered its lineup last week by activating forward Stephen Keogh. The 27-year-old chipped in one assist in the road game in Minnesota. Last season, the Toronto native recorded career highs in goals, assists and points.

"I'm looking forward to getting back out there this weekend. We have two big games and we need to get back to playing Knighthawks lacrosse," said Keogh. "Offensively, we need to keep it simple, move the ball and move our feet to create opportunities. We need to refocus and get everyone involved."

Rochester enters the games as winners of two of its last three games. Over the three-game stretch, the defense and goalie Matt Vinc has held their opponents to an average of eight goals per game. That includes limiting Toronto to six goals and Minnesota to seven. Defenseman Paul Dawson was anxious to get back to work as Rochester prepares for games against two East Division foes.

Fans can catch both Knighthawks games online on TSN.ca in Canada. In the US, Saturday's game is on NLL Live and Sunday's contest will be shown online on ESPN via WatchESPN (espn.com). The radio broadcasts will be available on 105.5 The Team and online at theteam.fm.

Rochester returns home on Saturday, February 21st to take on the Buffalo Bandits.
