Minnesota Swarm Fall to Toronto in East Division Showdown

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Swarm (3-3) fell to the division leading Toronto Rock (5-1) Friday night, 16-4, in front of a crowd of 8,945 at Ho-Chunk Nation Field at Xcel Energy Center.

The Swarm took an early two-goal lead in the first quarter after goals by forwards Callum Crawford(1g, 1a) and Dean Hill (1g). The lead did not last long as Toronto battled back and scored two straight to tie it. Minnesota was able to get one more goal before the Rock went on a nine-goal scoring run to finish out the first half ahead 11-3. In the second half, Toronto continued its scoring power as it added five more goals, while the Swarm added just one goal.

The Swarm's offense was led by forwards Shayne Jackson (1g, 1a), Logan Schuss (1g, 1a) and Crawford (1g, 1a) on Friday. On the other side, forwards Stephan Leblanc (4g, 5a), Brett Hickey (3g, 2a) and Kasey Beirnes (3g, 2a) fueled Toronto's offense.

Minnesota will have a chance to redeem themselves against the Rock tomorrow night in Toronto. The Swarm will finish its home-and-home series at Air Canada Centre for a 6 p.m. CT faceoff.
