
Lethbridge Hurricanes' Jaimen Yakubowski Named Denny's WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Lethbridge Hurricanes' forward Jaimen Yakubowski is the Denny's WHL Player of the Week.
Yakubowski collected eight points, scoring five goals and three assists to go with a +2 rating, in four games over the past week.
On Tuesday, November 27, the Hurricanes were in Saskatoon to face the Blades. Yakubowski scored one goal, one assist and was named the game's 2nd Star in the "ËCanes 5-3 loss to the Blades. The next night, Wednesday, November 28, the Prince Albert Raiders welcomed the Hurricanes to the Art Hauser Centre. Yakubowski gathered two goals, two assists and was named the game's 1st Star in the Hurricanes 6-4 victory over the Raiders. Following a 2-1 shoot-out loss on Saturday, December 1 in Medicine Hat, the "ËCanes were in Edmonton on Sunday, December 2, to take on the WHL defending Champion Oil Kings. Yakubowski netted two goals and was named the game's 2nd Star, but the Oil Kings proved to be too much as they edged the Hurricanes 4-3.
Yakubowski currently sits 2nd in Hurricanes team scoring with 23 points (13 goals, 10 assists) in 32 games played thus far this season. The Hurricanes currently sit 3rd in the WHL Central Division with a 14-14-1-3 record for 32 points.
An 18-year-old from Dalmeny, SK, Yakubowski is in his second full season with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The "ËCanes selected Yakubowski in the 4th round in the 2009 WHL Draft and has since appeared in 100 games gathering 51 points (29 goals, 22 assists) and 187 PIM's.
The WHL has also nominated Justin Paulic the Moose Jaw Warriors for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Paulic posted a 2-0-0-0 record this past week, stopping 44 of 47 shots faced for a 0.936 save-percentage and 1.44 goals-against average. Paulic, a 17-year-old from Thompson, MB, helped lead the Warriors to a pair of road victories, a 2-1 win in Vancouver over the Giants and a 3-2 shoot-out triumph over the Kamloops Blazers .
