Odessa Jackalopes News Release

(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes announced today that second-year forward Mike Lesperance will return to the team for the upcoming 2009-2010 Central Hockey League campaign. Lesperance finished his rookie season with 38 points in 60 games.

"Lesperance gave us some nice depth at the forward position," said Jackalopes Head Coach Paul Gillis. "He moved around a lot last year and filled in nicely for us in a lot of difference situations so it's good for us to have that versatility in our lineup."

Lesperance scored 14 goals and added 24 assists in 2008-2009. Eight of his goals and 11 of his assists came on the power play. He also scored a shorthanded goal last season.

"After last year's shortcomings, we'll be looking for that President's Cup," said Lesperance. "We're getting better everyday, we're working, and hopefully this will be the year that Odessa can bring home a cup."

Lesperance is a graduate of Western Michigan University where was also teammates with current Jackalopes forward, Jeff Pierce. In his four years at Western Michigan, Lesperance scored 35 points (16 goals, 19 assists) in 115 games.

The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
