Laredo Lemurs News Release
Laredo, TX - Lemurs Support Strawn's Strong Outing in 8-2 rout of RedHawks.ÃÂ
Josh Strawn made his first start in a Lemurs uniform count. He gets his first win of the season after throwing 6.1 innings and giving up just one run on seven hits while strikingÃÂ outÃÂ five would be RedHawk hitters. The 8-2 win was also the first of the year for the Lemurs as they move to 1-2 on the year.ÃÂ
The bats came alive early and stayed alive for the better part of the ballgame. The Lemurs scored a run in the bottom of the first and scored every inning after until they were finally silenced in the sixth. That included a solo home run by Devin Goodwin in the third, his third of the year. Laredo exploded for three runs on five hits in the fifth inning.ÃÂ
Jake Laber had to labor in his first start of the season for Fargo-Moorhead as he threw 88 pitches in 4.2 innings. The Lemurs hit him around for eight runs, seven earned, on 13 hits. The rookies, Victor Monteagudo and Josh Sheffert, proved to be a thorn in the side of Laber. They combined for five hits, three runs batted in, and a run scored. Even more impressive was that most of the damage they did came with two outs.ÃÂ
Almost forgotten in such a dominant game was the drama of two ejections and bench clearing confrontation one pitch in to the bottom of the second. Lemurs' starting pitcher Sean Tracey, who had the night off, was ejected from the dugout by first base umpire Brian Child. Manager Pete Incaviglia came out to discern why he had a player on the bench ejected. He was then tossed by Child shortly after. On his way to the clubhouse beyond right field, RedHawks second baseman Brandon Newton had some words for Incaviglia. The benches cleared on both sides, but no scuffle ensued and both teams eventually went to their respected dugouts.ÃÂ
