Laredo Lemurs News Release
Laredo's bats stay hot as they close out the series against Fargo-Moorhead with a 7-2 win. The victory gives the Lemurs a 2-2 record on the year. Last night the Lemurs put eight runs on the board behind 14 hits and followed that up very well tonight with seven runs on 10 hits against the RedHawks.
Lemurs get a phenomenal performance out of starter Brian Pearson. Pearson struck out eight batters over five innings giving up two runs, one earned, on just one hit. His night was cut short however, as he was warming up for the sixth inning he was pulled after feeling some discomfort in his arm.
RedHawks' starter Brian Ernst struggled tonight in his first start of the season getting hit around for four runs in just three innings of work. Danny Gutierrez came in and did a nice job of relief for Fargo-Moorhead going 4.2 innings and giving up two runs on four hits while striking out five Lemurs. All of the damage to Gutierrez came in his last inning of work.
Travis Denker led the way at the plate for the Lemurs tonight going 2-4 with a home run and three runs batted in. Nick Van Stratten and J.P. Ramirez each added a triple and scored in the 7th inning. The story of the game remains the Lemurs pitching, which combined to allow just four hits and struck out 13 would be RedHawk sluggers in the 7-2 victory.
