St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN (May 19, 2014) - There will be new smells and tastes at Midway Stadium this season that are sure to sate even the hungriest of appetites and quench the thirst of the heartiest of drinkers. The St. Paul Saints unveiled the Von Hanson Sausage Haus and the unique beer shakes during their opening homestand.
The Von Hanson Sausage Haus is located down the left field line adjacent to Midway Grill in a red shack. Fans can purchase a brat and a bag of Old Dutch Chips for $6.75. The brats are named after our four-legged former mascots: Justin Bieboar (Jalapeno & Chesse brat with pineapples on a brat bun), Brat Favre (Cheddar brat with Sriracha sauce on a pretzel bun), Ham Solo (Old fashion brat topped with coleslaw on a pretzel bun), Hamilton (Chili brat with beans, cheese and sour cream on a brat bun), Kevin Bacon (Beer brat topped with cheese curd crumbles and bacon on a pretzel bun), Kim Lardashian (Old fashioned brat with mozzarella cheese and raspberry chipotle sauce on a pretzel bun) and Garrison Squeallor (Wild rice, bacon and cheese brat on a Pretzel bun).
Von Hanson Meat's & Spirits was established in 1984 in Apple Valley and currently has 20 stores in Minnesota and reigns as the #1 meat market.
Fans can also find the delicious mixture of beer and ice cream rolled into one with the beer shakes at the Hardball Shack down the left field line near the blue and white tent at the Hardball Picnic Area. This ice cold drink is made with Kemps Ice Cream and comes in five different flavors: Café Au Lait (Surly Coffee Bender with Vanilla Ice Cream), Chocolate Summit (Summit Great Northern Porter with Chocolate Ice Cream), Blended Smurf (Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy with Blue Moon Ice Cream), Strawberries & Cream (Third Street Rise to the Top Cream Ale with Strawberry Ice Cream) and Apple Pie a la mode (Angry Orchard Cider with Cinnamon Ice Cream). Each beer shake will be $7.
"This may be our last season at Midway, but we haven't forgotten what has made us so successful since 1993," said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Derek Sharrer. "This is the most important season in our history and we want our fans to get the best experience they've ever had in our 22 years."
The concept of beer shakes was introduced by the sister team of the Saints, the Charleston RiverDogs in 2013 and their guru of food, John Schumacher. It was selected as the "Best New Menu Item" and was honored with the "Silver Spoon Award" by Venues Today Magazine, a popular trade publication for the world of sports and entertainment arenas.
The popular model caught on this year during Twins Spring Training, another sister team of the Saints and the Akron RubberDucks, whose General Manager Jim Pfander was the Assistant General Manager with the RiverDogs.
Saints tickets continue to be a tremendous value. Tickets are $6 for general admission, $9 for outfield reserved and $14 for infield reserved.
