May 21, 2014 - American Association (AA)
Laredo Lemurs News Release
A nine-run third inning was enough to carry the Laredo Lemurs past the visiting Winnipeg Goldyes on Wednesday morning. The Lemurs roughed up Winnipeg starter RHP Jason Jarvis, who was saddled with the loss. Jarvis allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and a walk in only two and 2/3 innings.
In the 14-batter third for Laredo, 2B Travis Denker and C Angel Flores both hit three-run home runs.
Winnipeg scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to cut the deficit to five, but Laredo put the game away by scoring in four consecutive innings. The Lemurs scored one run in the fifth and sixth, two in the seventh and five in eighth.
Flores was 3-for-5 on the game, as was SS Devin Goodwin for the Lemurs.
Laredo starter RHP Mike Piazza earned the win, going six innings and allowing seven hits, four runs, all of which were earned, with one walk and three strikeouts.
