Lemurs Get Shut Down by the T-Bones

Laredo, TX -The Laredo Lemurs (10-11) got shut out for the second time this year, this time at the hands of the Kansas City T-Bones (8-12) pitching staff as the Lemurs lost 3-0 on Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

The Lemurs could only come up with five scattered hits throughout the night against the T-Bones. The Lemurs picked up a hit in the first that was wiped out on a fielder's choice. In the second the Lemurs saw Byron Wiley double, and with one out, both Jimmy Mojica and Abel Nieves earned walks to load the bases before Kevin Taylor grounded into a double play to end the inning. Denis Phipps led off the fourth with a single and he stole second base, but the next three Lemurs went down in order. The final Lemurs hit came in the seventh and it was erased at second after Luke Bailey grounded into a fielder's choice for the second out of the inning.

The Lemurs did walk four times and saw Kevin Taylor get hit by a pitch, but the bats were unsuccessful in bringing those runners around as well.

Starting pitcher Bobby Doran (2-1) earned the win on the mound for the T-Bones. He went six strong innings giving up three hits without allowing a run. He also walked four and struck out four.

Lemurs' starter Matt Loosen picked up the loss going six while giving up three runs (2 earned) on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

The save goes to Jonathon Kountis picked up his third save of the season as he retired the Lemurs in order in the ninth with two strikeouts.

The Lemurs loss moves them to 10-11 on the season with more to play against Kansas City this weekend. The Lemurs play at 6:00pm on Sunday.
