
Lemcke Named Assistant Captain with Team Ontario

SYDNEY, NS - Sixteen year-old defenceman Justin Lemcke has been named an assistant captain with Ontario's Under 17 team that will battle for gold over the course of the next two weeks in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Joining Ontario's best on the ice, Lemcke and his teammates will take on elite competitors from across Canada and the rest of the world in the 2014 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge. Ontario looks to return to golden glory for the first time since 2011 in Winnipeg under Bulls Assistant Coach Jake Grimes.
The Bulls' 1st round (18th overall) pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection, Lemcke has garnered gradually more responsibility as his rookie season has progressed. The former Whitby Wildcat has a goal and five assists in 31 games to go with 30 penalty minutes. Lemcke has been utilized regularly on the Belleville penalty kill this season.
Lemcke is joined by fellow assistant captain Matthew Spencer (Peterborough Petes) alongside captain Travis Konecny (Ottawa 67's) to form Ontario's leadership team. The announcement was made by Team Ontario Director of Operations Barclay Branch (Belleville Bulls), along with Head Coach Roger Hunt (Oshawa Generals), and Assistant Coaches Drew Bannister(Owen Sound Attack) and Seamus Kotyk (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds) on Friday.
Lemcke and Bulls teammate Adam Laishram kick off the tournament schedule on Sunday against Team Germany at 1:00pm ET. Stay tuned to Bulls.com for updates throughout the tournament!
