Lee Gets No-Decision in Comeback Win

TAMPA -- Cliff Lee made his second rehab start with the Clearwater Threshers on Wednesday and received a no-decision in the Threshers' 6-5 come-from-behind win over Tampa.

Lee tossed four innings and gave up three earned runs, all of which came in the fourth inning. The former Cy-Young award winner allowed four hits and struck out four while walking one.

"It feels good to get back to pitching to hitters," Lee said. "Getting some game action feels nice."

Lee's first rehab start was cut short after two innings due to rain, and he would only throw fastballs and cutters in that outing. On Wednesday he was able to mix it up.

"I threw everything today," Lee explained. "Throwing four innings rather than two makes it easier to use your stuff more. I got through it, felt fine, and on to the next one."

As for what's next for the Phillies' starter, he said, "I think I'm throwing again in Clearwater on Monday, and after that I'll be back with the Phillies."

In Wednesday's game, the Threshers (9-10) were down 5-0 heading into the eighth inning. Harold Martinez connected on his third homer of the year to right-field to put Clearwater on the board.

The Yankees (10-9) still held that 5-1 advantage in the top of the ninth, but the Threshers exploded for five runs off of Tampa relievers Ramon Benjamin and Alex Smith. Brian Pointer had the big knock in the inning, lifting a three-run big fly to right to put Clearwater in front, 6-5.

Lino Martinez came on for the save in the bottom of the ninth and got two outs, but allowed two runners to reach base. That set up an opportunity for Dante Bichette, Jr. to tie it. Threshers' manager Nelson Prada countered by bringing in Dan Child to get the final out.

With the count 3-2 on Bichette, Child got the Yankees' slugger to fly out to Angelo Mora in right field to end the game and give the Threshers a 6-5 comeback win.

Clearwater has won four games in a row for the first time this season, and will look to sweep the Tampa Yankees on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Bright House Field with coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. on threshersbaseball.com.
