League try-out camp nets three potential Ice Muskies

September 14, 2009 - All American Hockey League (AAHL)
Madison Ice Muskies News Release

The Madison Ice Muskies participated in the All American Hockey League's free agent draft this past weekend in Chicago and made three draft selections. Madison signed one player to a training camp agreement, while inviting two other skaters to next month's training camp.

Eli King, a defenseman from New Westminster, British Columbia inked the training camp agreement. King, 5'8 and 185 pounds, played in the Ontario Provincial Junior "A" Hockey League last season. He skated in 47 regular and post-season games (1G-8A-9pts, 50PIMS)

"King is a very good skater, has a hard shot and is strong on his skates," said Madison General Manager John Rudolph. "He played as a defenseman in juniors, although we feel he may be able to play up front as well."

Naoki Kaneko, a native of Japan and Michael Frato from Bloomfield, Colorado were also selected in the leagues draft and have been invited to next month's training camp.

"Kaneko is a fast and shifty skater and appears to have a knack for scoring while Frato is a solid two-way player," said Rudolph. "We hope to see them both at our training camp."

Madison will be conducting a two-day free agent camp beginning on Monday September 21 at Hartmeyer Arena in Madison. Prospective players can register online at www.Icemuskies.com.
