
League-leading Muskegon defeats PrairieThunder

Muskegon defenseman Philippe Plante erupted for two goals to help the Fury earn a 5-1 victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Friday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum before 3,206 people in United Hockey League action.
The Fury took a 1-0 lead in the first period on Joe Pomaranski's goal with 9:19 remaining off an assist by Kelly Thomson.
Muskegon added to its lead just 1:18 into the second period on a goal by Evan Kotsopoulos with assists going to Justin Kinnunen and Dave Noel-Bernier.
The PrairieThunder cut the deficit in half on a goal by Jarad Bourassa with 17:43 left in the second period. He was assisted by Greg Koehler, who was playing his first game with the PrairieThunder after being acquired in a trade for future considerations earlier in the week.
Noel-Bernier gave Muskegon a 3-1 lead 4:17 into the third period off an assist by Kotsopoulos. Plante then put the game away for Muskegon, which improved its record to 37-7-1, with his two goals. He was assisted by Mike Watt on the first goal and Rustyn Dolyny on the second.
Each team had only two penalties for seven minutes and each was unsuccessful on one power play opportunity. The Fury had 43 shots on goal to Bloomington's 29.
The loss dropped the PrairieThunder record to 12-29-2 ahead of tonight's 7:05 contest against Western Conference foe Chicago at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
In other PrairieThunder news, Mike Adamek was waived. He had been on team suspension.
