League fall meeting in Indianapolis this weekend

September 20, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. Over 100 people representing nearly seventy 2006 & 2007 ABA teams plus guests will meet at the Airport Radisson Hotel in Indianapolis on Friday and Saturday to discuss the upcoming season that begins in November. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "This should be our largest and best meeting ever as we gear up for our best season ever. Our expansion this season has nearly doubled the size of the league and it appears we'll have at least that much expansion for next season too. And with new teams in both Canada and Mexico, it should make for a great year all around."

"The Agenda is very full and we will be making some major announcements leading into the meeting and after the meeting. Our goal has always been to bring exciting professional basketball and entertainment to fans at affordable prices. And while we've had some ups and downs, overall we are accomplishing our goals. There will be nearly 700 players playing, over 150 coaches coaching and over 1000 games with our fan-friendly, family-friendly ticket prices. It doesn't get any better than this," Newman added. "We will also adjust the schedules a bit to allow for a some inter-divisional and inter-conference play and finalize details of the All Star Game and the ABA Championship Playoffs."
