ABA names Tom Doyle as new President and Chief Operating Officer

September 20, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today named Thomas E. (Tom) Doyle, co-owner of the Maryland Nighthawks, as President and Chief Operating Officer of the league. Mr. Doyle has been a practicing attorney for over 15 years. His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Trial Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association as well as inclusion in the esteemed "Who's Who in American Law." He is an adjunct professor of law at Montgomery College and a frequent lecturer to the community on issues of Consumer Fraud and Consumer Rights and also represents many professional athletes. A graduate of the University of Maryland and the George Mason School of Law, he has helped to make the Maryland Nighthawks one of the premiere organizations in the ABA.

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "The naming of Tom Doyle as President/COO is another step in the remarkable growth and progress of the ABA. Since Tom first came into the league, he has provided the league with leadership, skill and a commitment to excellence. Having him at the league level will be a great asset as we move forward to maximize the potential that the ABA affords...you should see some remarkable things as the future unfolds."

"I am extremely pleased and honored to accept this position as President/COO," stated Doyle. "I have worked closely with Dick Tinkham and Joe and fully understand the goals and mission of the ABA. The last three years have seen tremendous expansion; we have an extraordinary and diversified ownership group made up of former athletes, entertainers, attorneys, physicians, businesspeople, clergy and others. No other league has ever achieved what the ABA has achieved in such a short time and we have barely scratched the surface. The ABA has a very bright future and I am excited to be a part of it."
