
Launch Fourth Quarter Comeback Not Enough for Win

BOCA RATON, Fla. (May 16, 2015) - Coming off its first victory of the season, the Florida Launch dropped a 15-12 decision to the Denver Outlaws on Saturday, May 16 at FAU Stadium.
Casey Powell paced the Launch with three goals and an assist for four points while Kieran McArdle had the same points with opposite stats, three assists and one goal. Roman Lao-Gosney posted his first career hat trick with three goals with David Earl also logging multiple goals with two. In the goal Charlie Cipriano started but Adam Fullerton played the majority of the contest, saving 11 shots while allowing six goals.
Steven Brooks scored the first goal of the evening on an unassisted goal with 11:48 left in the first quarter. Denver scored its first goal with 6:52 to tie the score before Duncan Clancy scored his second goal of season to keep the Launch up. With 2:18 left in the opening quarter the Outlaws scored and chipped in another with 1:32 left to take its first lead of the game. With five seconds left in the frame the Outlaws scored a goal from behind the two point arc to go up 5-2, it was the first two-point goal surrendered by the Launch defense this season.
Denver rode its momentum from the previous quarter with four-straight in the first nine minutes as part of its 7-0 run that was stopped by a Earl goal off a Powell pass with 5:42 left in the half. Powell recorded his second point of the half with 3:28 left to cut the deficit to five. In similar fashion to the previous stanza, Denver scored two goals after the two minute warning to end the half up 11-4.
Fresh off the intermission Denver added to its lead with a goal 48 seconds into play. In response to the quick goal, Cameron Lao-Gosney scored his first Florida Launch goal with 13:17 left to pay to prevent another run from the Outlaws. Following a Denver goal R. Lao-Gosney, brother of Cameron, scored marking the second time that both brothers scored in the same MLL game. With 3:34 left in the quarter reigning MLL Offensive Player of the Week McArdle scored his first goal of the game and Earl scored his second of the game to make the score 13-8. Denver had an opportunity to end the quarter with momentum with a one-on-one attack on Adam Fullerton, who saved the ball.
In the final quarter, Powell provided his second goal of the night to bring the Launch within four. With less than 10 minutes to play, R. Lao-Gosney scored his second goal of the game to bring the Launch to double-digits on the scoreboard. Denver created a speed bump for the Launch's comeback chance with a goal with 6:12 left to play and ended the hopes of a victory for the home team with a goal in the final three minutes of play. The Launch put together one final attack with goals from R. Lao-Gosney and Powell eight seconds apart to put the team down three with 0:37 seconds left.
The Launch hits the road for its longest road stretch of the season, starting with a contest with the Ohio Machine on Sunday, May 24 at 6:30 PM. The game will be live on ESPN3.com.
