Florida Launch News Release

BOCA RATON, FL.- Despite a late fourth quarter push and an exuberant crowd, the Chesapeake Bayhawks edge out the Florida Launch, 14-11.

However, the Launch second year players continue to be productive on the offensive side. In tonight's loss, the 2017 rookie class combined for seven of the eleven goals scored. Ryan Drenner led the way with a hat trick (3G) and Dylan Molloy ended the night with two goals. Veteran Steven Brooks added three assists and is still one goal away from breaking the tie with Casey Powell as the second most goals scored in a Launch uniform.

In goal, keeper Austin Kaut made 18 saves, out of the 32 shots on goal. Down by four entering the fourth quarter, the Launch came powering back to narrow the lead to one. One more goal in the last minute of the game sealed the deal for the Bayhawks.

QUOTES OF THE GAME

Coach Tom Mariano on home loss: "I think it was a matter of executing at key moments. We would make great plays and the ball would bounce right back to their guy and when that happens you have to make your own luck, and I don't think we did a good enough job of that tonight."

Coach on improvements for next game: "We have to play four quarters. The Outlaws are one of the better teams in the league consistently and we have to play four quarters, which we haven't done yet through two games this season."

PLAYERS OF NOTE

Ryan Drenner - three goals (game-high for the Launch)

Steven Brooks - three assists

Tim Barber - scored first career two-point goal in the fourth quarter

OTHER NOTES

Next weekend, the Launch return to FAU Stadium to take on the Denver Outlaws in the team's Star Wars and Space Night Game presented by the South Florida Science Center. Face-off is set for 4PM.
