Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The Indianapolis Indians have appointed Scott Lauer as radio talent for the upcoming season. Lauer steps in for 12-year veteran Brian Giffin, who has accepted an offer to broadcast college football.
"We are very pleased to have Scott Lauer joining Howard Kellman in the Indians broadcast booth, " said Indians General Manager Cal Burleson. "Scott comes to us with six years of experience as a professional baseball broadcaster in the Minor Leagues, and was highly recommended by all of his former employers. We think that our fans will come to enjoy his broadcast style and his passion for the game."
The 28-year-old Lauer spent last season as the director of broadcasting and public relations for the Single-A Vero Beach Dodgers. In all, Lauer brings six years of Minor League baseball broadcasting expertise with stops at Pioneer League Butte (1998) and Billings (1999-2000), Single-A Potomac (2001-2002) and Vero Beach.
"We also want to thank Brian Giffin for his many years of service with the Indians," said Burleson. "Brian brought a depth of personality to the microphone, and played a major role in elevating the audio quality of our broadcasts."
The Indians open the 2004 campaign on the road, Thursday, April 8, with a 6:15 p.m. contest at Norfolk. All Tribe radio broadcasts can be heard on News Talk 1430 WXNT Radio.
