Mobile BayBears News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, pushed across a pair of runs in the eighth inning but fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 4-2 Thursday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Trailing 4-0 entering through seven, Connor Justus reached base on a fielding error to begin the top of the eighth. Three batters later, he scored on a fielder's choice. Brennon Lund drove in another run with a single, but the BayBears (35-30) left two runners on base in both the eighth and ninth.

After giving up four runs in the first two frames, Alex Klonowski (3-1) held the Blue Wahoos (29-36) scoreless for the final four innings of his start. Despite allowing a career-high 12 hits, he worked out of trouble in several innings to minimize the damage. Klonowski finished with seven strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

Daniel Wright (3-4) earned the win with seven scoreless innings pitched. Mobile mustered just three hits against him and four total in the game.

The BayBears continue the five-game road series against Pensacola Friday at 6:35 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Jose Rodriguez (5-6, 5.68 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Keury Mella (5-3, 3.33 ERA) for the Blue Wahoos.
