Late Runs Lift Salem-Keizer

Tri-City Dust Devils News Release


The Tri-City Dust Devils came up short in their attempt to win two games in a row in an 8-5 loss against Salem-Keizer Monday night at Gesa Stadium. The Dust Devils (17-15) had a 5-3 lead through six innings but gave up runs in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings in their loss to the Volcanoes (18-14).

Austin Allen picked up where he left off Sunday night for the Dust Devils with an RBI single. Ty France had three total hits for Tri-City, while Mitch Morales had a double and a single in the game. Carlos Belen had a two run home run, his first of the season.

Shilo McCall and C.J. Hinojosa each had a double and a home run and Steven Duggar had a triple and two singles for Salem-Keizer.

Tri-City starting pitcher Jose Castillo pitched three innings and gave up three runs on five hits. Lou Distasio (1-1) received the loss for the Dust Devils. Distasio pitched a third of an inning, giving up two runs on two hits while walking two batters.

Starting pitcher Logan Webb had a short outing for Salem-Keizer. Webb pitched one inning while giving up three runs on four hits. Mac Marshall was impressive in relief of Webb, pitching three and two thirds innings, striking out six batters and walking three. Ryan Halstead (1-0) got the win for the Volcanoes. Halstead pitched two and one third innings while striking out two batters and giving up two hits.

The Dust Devils will play the fourth game of their five game series against the Volcanoes Tuesday night at Gesa Stadium. It will be Army National Guard Night presented by Army National Guard. Angel Mejia will be on the mound for the Dust Devils, while Nolan Riggs will start the game for the Volcanoes.
