
Late Push Falls Short at Auburn

Auburn, NY - Kingston Liniak went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, but the Connecticut Tigers (12-15) fell to the Auburn Doubledays (13-14) by a final score of 7-5.
The Tigers struck first in the second frame. Avery Tuck brought home the first run of the contest with an error by Jose Sanchez. Kingston Liniak walked with the bases loaded to make it 2-0 in the frame. Corey Joyce followed that up with his first RBI of the contest on a sacrifice fly.
Auburn answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own. Jeremy Ydens brought home a run on a sacrifice fly, and was followed by a double off the right-field wall by Adalberto Carrillo to make it 3-2.
After Liniak reached on a double, Joyce drove in his second run of the game with an RBI single through the left-side of the infield to put the Tigers up 4-2.
The Doubledays again had a response when Jake Randa singled to center to cut the lead to one.
After a scoreless fifth by Connecticut against Auburn reliever, Amos Willingham (Win 1-2), the Doubledays loaded the bases against Jake Baker (Loss, 1-1), Jake Alu tripled on a fly ball to right-center field to take a 6-3 lead. Carrillo added to the lead in the same frame with a RBI double to center field to score Alu.
Connecticut threatened in the ninth inning getting the winning run to second base. Liniak singled home Jose King to cut the deficit to 7-5. Bobby Milacki (Save 1) recorded the final six outs on the mound for Auburn.
The Connecticut Tigers are back in action tomorrow to open a series against the Tri-City ValleyCats for the first time this season.. Xavier Javier will be on the mound tomorrow night for the Tigers.
